Does water dye harm beta fish?

My friend purchased me a beta fish for my birthday and dyed the water blue to match the fish and the fake flowers in the vase. Will the dye harm the fish?

Does water dye harm beta fish?
yes, dye is not good for fish. nor is keeping it in a vase. also if the flowers are plastic they%26#039;re likely to tear the bettas fins.

there are tons of myths floating around about betta care. mainly that they%26#039;re great in bowls and vases with little care needed, but that%26#039;s not true. they%26#039;re just like any other fish as far as needs go, they%26#039;re just a little hardier. they can survive in an unheated unfiltered vase or bowl for a while but then again you could survive in an unheated closet with no toilet for a while too.

do you fish, your friend, and you a favor a get these, they won%26#039;t take up much more space than the vase and they don%26#039;t cost very much:

2.5gallon tank - $10

gravel - $1+

10i whisper filter - $10

7.5watt heater - $7

silk plant for in front of filter - $1

thermometer - $1

you fish will love you and live long enough to make the present worth giving. a lot of people give them as gifts but they quickly die because they don%26#039;t know proper care. good luck and happy birthday!
Reply:it%26#039;s not dye it%26#039;s medication added to help the betta retain it%26#039;s colors which it would normally lose to the stress of shipping and being in such a small container.

it%26#039;s like adding nitrogen to a cereal box to keep it looking nice.

long term exposure can cause problems for the fish
