Saffron flower?

i purchased this at a latin store. it does not look like the fancy stuff. can you explain to me how to use this. is it the same flavor or a whole other ball of wax?

As a former chef I have used it before, and it is a different ball of wax, it is a similar in colour but much less intense in flavour.





I used it mainly for the colour, in rice, marinates, soups and sauces. If you do use it I would bloom it, by this I mean place it in a cup with boiling water over it to extract the colour, in general it is not the same but is a good substitute it one way but not in others, but here the cost is the issue.
