Help identify antique locket please?

recently purchase a victorian? book shaped locket. It is gold tone (yet to be tested but looks like solid gold front and back) it has written on the front at the top %26quot;The Keepsake locket%26quot; then a ornate circle sorta shape with leaves and a flower? then underneath that %26quot; Newman %26amp; Co%26quot; with more patterning to the outer edges. it measures 3cm by 2cm and is really rather pretty.

when opened, inside it has 6 hinged sheet copper/gold? (folds out one attached to the other) each having a photo which look like welsh country folk dressed in victorian clothes, from other photos i have seen i guessing these photos are around 1860-1880?.

the locket is in great condition, but i brought it just cause i liked it,as you can tell im no collector.

I have spent all day on the net trying to find out something of about this locket and cant find a thing?

does anyone know any thing about this or could point me to a site which might help me identify its origins.

thanks in advance for any help

Try St.Fagins (National Folk Museum of Wales. nr Cardiff). It could be a bible text Container, something personal like hair or a Love token (locket). They may want a picture of the item - Try the phone first and then make an e-mail contact.
Reply:you could go on to e bay and look for a seller who has a regular turnover of victorian jewalry, and ask their advice. thats what i do when i need info. good luck.....ps. just in case you dont know, theres an ask the seller line to click on to. AHEM!!! (well you might not have known)
