When should I deadhead roses?

Just purchased some minis, floribundas and hardy modern schrubs, and they are doing great! Some of the older flowers have died out- should I deadhead right away? I%26#039;ve read somewhere %26quot;after the first and second bloom cycle%26quot;. When would that be? Should I wait for the whole plant to be done flowering and deadhead? How far in should I cut? Please help. Thanks!

When should I deadhead roses?
You can dead head as the flower begins to wilt--makes the plant look better and prevents half gone flowers from taking any energy from the plant.

I take off flowers just above the first sprig of leaves that have more than 3 leaves.
Reply:when it comes to dead heading roses especially floribundas you could wait until the flowers in the one cluster are spent.this is the easiest otherwise you could be there along time snipping out each spent flower.cut down to the strongest outside bud.you dont have to wait for the whole plant to finish.if you see that some flowers are spent then snip away
Reply:You should prune roses as soon as flower starts to die( not fresh ones of course} with luck it should carry on flowing till the cold weather comes
Reply:Just before they die, or you will not get a second flush of pretty roses.
