Does anyone know a flower that can be planted in May and will bloom rather quickly?

Preferably this flower will grow in a month or so. We%26#039;ve just purchased a house and cannot afford to buy already grown plants to cover all our planting needs. So I was hoping to have a nice looking flower cover by August. If you have any suggestions, thanks!!

Cosmos, nasturtiums and zinnias grow rapidly from seed, and you should have a gorgeous garden by August.
Reply:Pansies ... they%26#039;re out in the shops now for bedding plants and come in a variety of colours .. you can store the pods of your favourites to germinate next year when you%26#039;ve settled in.
Reply:dahlias and roses. I love both of them and they are big so they can cover your garden with colors :) I just bought a dahlia yesterday so happy gardening!
